It's a time when participating restaurants offer guests the opportunity to indulge in three-course meals at discounted rates. The concept is simple: the cost of the entire meal is equivalent to that of just one entree. Excited by the culinary possibilities, Daniela and I decided to test our luck and try to find a participating restaurant along the way.
Our gastronomic expedition began in the vibrant Plaza Lazaro Cardenas. As we strolled through the plaza, we couldn't help but marvel at the beautiful tile work adorning every bench and the elegant gazebo. It was a testament to the rich artistic heritage of Puerto Vallarta. With a sense of wanderlust guiding our steps, we continued our exploration along the Malecon, a beloved promenade offering breathtaking views of the bay. As we soaked in the picturesque scenery and indulged in a bit of people-watching, our appetite grew.
With hunger gnawing at us, we eagerly sought out a restaurant to satisfy our cravings. Unfortunately, the first two beachfront establishments we tried turned out to be ineligible for Restaurant Week. Undeterred, we approached a friendly worker at 116 Pulpito and asked for his recommendation. Without hesitation, he suggested Serranos Grill. Grateful for his advice, we hailed a cab and embarked on a short but steep journey up the hill. (Trust me, attempting to walk to this restaurant would have been a misadventure!)
Upon our arrival at Serranos Grill, we were greeted with a pleasant surprise. The panoramic views of the bay from the restaurant were simply breathtaking, serving as a perfect backdrop to our culinary experience. As we settled into our seats, anticipation filled the air. Daniela opted for a refreshing pear salad, while I couldn't resist the allure of a salmon burger for my appetizer. The flavors were exquisite, teasing our taste buds with each bite.
So good...
Moving on to the main course, we both decided to savor the succulent Picaña, a top sirloin cap steak that had been prepared to perfection. It was truly a cut above the rest, surpassing any steak I had ever tasted before. With our appetites satisfied, we eagerly welcomed the sweet finale to our culinary journey: a decadent chocolate cheesecake.
As we reflected on our delightful evening, it became evident that Restaurant Week in Puerto Vallarta, was an experience not to be missed. It was a chance to immerse ourselves in the vibrant flavors and warm hospitality of the region, all while relishing the stunning views of the bay.
If you happen to find yourself in Puerto Vallarta during Restaurant Week, I encourage you to explore the list of participating restaurants and embark on your own gastronomic odyssey. Whether you choose to wander blindly like we did or make a reservation at a specific venue, you are sure to encounter a remarkable array of flavors and create lasting memories. Restaurant Week offers a unique and unparalleled culinary experience that will leave you yearning for more.
