The new vehicle and emissions inspections program implemented by the Government of Jalisco has caused unrest among both residents and tourists in Puerto Vallarta.
On March 30th, protests against the program disrupted city life, leaving many people stranded. According to the protestors, the program is a scam for the government to make money.
Protests are scheduled to resume on Friday, April 21, as demonstrators return to the streets near the Responsible Verification Center to demand changes to the program. The "Centro de Verificación Responsable" is situated in close proximity to the Corona Brewery along highway 200, which is directly en route to the airport.
The demonstrations caused significant chaos, with public transport halted, flights delayed, and hundreds of tourists missing their flights.
Puerto Vallarta Travel Delays
The ongoing conflict between protestors and the government has left residents and businesses frustrated and affected by the disruptions caused.
How should visitors prepare for travel?
To help ensure a stress-free travel experience, we advise visitors flying out of the Puerto Vallarta International Airport to allocate additional time for their journey to the airport. We also recommend checking the flight status before departing for the airport, and using Google Maps to monitor any possible delays on the route. These simple steps can help prevent any unwanted surprises and help ensure a more smooth and hassle-free departure.
