I recently had the privilege of meeting up with my friend Sergio Santana, a Mexican Immigration Lawyer located in Bucerias, Nayarit to film our second annual video about new laws and regulations that the Mexican INM office is requiring for 2023.
I was excited to join Sergio and hear about the latest developments in Mexican immigration law and share that knowledge with others.
Special Regularization Program
One of the most important topics that Sergio Santana discussed during our meeting was the Special Regularization Program that the Mexican government has introduced for certain categories of immigrants. Under the Special Regularization Program, eligible individuals have the opportunity to apply for a temporary resident visa. This program is open to a variety of different categories of immigrants, including those who entered the country without proper documentation, those who have overstayed their visas, and those who are in the process of seeking asylum.
In order to qualify for the program, applicants must meet a variety of criteria that Sergio explains in the video above.
Overall, the Special Regularization Program represents an important step forward in Mexico's efforts to address the challenges and opportunities of immigration in the 21st century. By offering a path to legal status for those who are already living in the country, this program provides an opportunity for individuals to fully participate in Mexican society and contribute to the country's economic and cultural development. We were impressed by Sergio's expertise and insights into this program, and we hope that our video will help others understand the benefits and requirements of the Special Regularization Program.
YouTube Subscriber Questions
In the second video, Sergio addresses the queries of our subscribers pertaining to their individual circumstances in obtaining residency in Mexico. Along with that, Sergio and I emphasize the significance of engaging a lawyer or an expert to assist with this procedure. Sergio shares anecdotes of individuals who were unaware of the need to remove all visible earrings and nose rings for the photo on their new ID, resulting in a frenzy and some comical mishaps at the doctor's office.
Obtaining residency in Mexico can be an exasperating experience due to the infamous bureaucracy that comes along with it. To avoid unnecessary frustrations, I strongly advise seeking the guidance of an expert such as Sergio Santana.
